About me

I’m Juan Pablo Garcia — Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, coach, competitor, and founder of EDJ Academy.
My journey began in Ecuador, took me to Brazil to train at the birthplace of Jiu-Jitsu, and eventually brought me to the United States, where I built a thriving academy and community focused on personal growth through martial arts.

I’ve dedicated my life to learn, teaching, and helping others through Jiu-Jitsu. I’ve been running my own school for over a decade and am constantly working to improve my teaching methods, always thinking about what truly resonates with my students. My goal is simple: to help people learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as quickly, effectively, and deeply as possible.

With that mission in mind, I created this website — a place where I share my journey, lessons from the mats, techniques, strategies, and insights into the mindset and culture of Jiu-Jitsu.
