This Week at EDJ Academy: Back to the Fundamentals
This week, we’re diving deep into the core fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu—perfect for beginners and a great refresher for advanced students.
🟦 Monday & Tuesday:
Lesson 1 – Core Concepts
We’ll be working on the double leg takedown, establishing control from side mount, transitioning to full mount, and finishing with submissions from the mount. Focus on solid positioning and pressure.

🟨 Wednesday & Thursday:
Self-Defense Essentials
Learn how to manage distance, defend against punches, close the gap safely, and choose effective takedown options. These are must-know skills for real-world self-defense situations.

🟥 Friday & Saturday:
Introducing the Guard for Self-Defense
We’ll explore using the guard effectively to protect yourself and recover your position. Then, we’ll tie the entire week together—combining takedowns, ground control, and submissions into fluid, effective sequences.

💡 Coach’s Tip: These are our foundational techniques, but don’t be afraid to get creative! Use your own combinations, explore different details, and share your variations on the mats.
